Dancer and choreographer Greta Grineviciute in her solo performance Dance for a Vacuum-cleaner and Father invites into the personal space of a woman.
A Woman – young, attractive, and talented – is the main focus of the performance. She is simultaneously a girl, an author, a means to bring to life somebody else’s ideas, her own boss, sex symbol, sex object, subject… a woman in search of love and unity unfortunately bound to wind up in the same old lonely place. She is also an artist torn between her own image and artistic ideals.
Autobiography, TV, cinema, literature, theatre, dance, father’s favourite music, and fantasy – are all combined in the Dance for a Vacuum-cleaner and Father. Real, experienced world overlaps with fiction. And in the middle of all that – a dancing woman, not necessarily still able to separate reality from fantasy.
